CAP is disturbed to learn that the Guinness Anchor Bhd (GAB) Foundation is providing 6 schools in Ijok and Kuala Selangor with new reading corners under its Supporting Malaysian Indian Learning Education and Sports (SMILES) programme.

92% played truant to visit cyber cafes

Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a media report had stated that truancy and gangsterism among students can lead to very serious disciplinary problems and crime. Of late, cyber cafes are also mentioned as one of the contributors to negative behaviour among school children.

Don't make alcohol so conveniently available

CAP views with concern the comments by the executive director, Ng Su Onn, that consumers wishing to buy liquor at 7-Eleven outlets may be required to show their identity cards. We do not expect any real enforcement of this ruling when none has been apparent before.
