Invitation to a public seminar organised by CAP and the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum (CMCF)

In line with our objective to provide education and awareness to consumers on issues pertaining to content disseminated over the electronic networked medium, we hereby invite the public to the seminar jointly organised by CAP and the CMCF.

Introduce public consultation guidelines

CAP is compelled to respond to the unwarranted outburst by Penang Chief Minister YB Lim Guan Eng on CAP’s complaint on the lack of public consultation by the State Government on some recent mega projects.

Public consultation lacking for Penang infrastructure projects

CAP and Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) are concerned that mega infrastructure projects in Penang are being pushed forward without adequate dissemination of information to the public or consulting the public.

Penang Forum 4: Development and Good Governance

The Steering Committee of the Penang Forum of which CAP is a member of, is holding a public forum at the Caring Society Complex along Jalan Utama on 18 December from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

The Penang Forum is an informal network of some 40 Penang-based NGOs and concerned individuals who came together in April 2008 to chart a possible way forward for Penang. After the 2008 event, a Penang Forum Declaration was submitted to the state government calling for a new partnership with the Penang people based on the principles of popular participation, transparency, accountability, sustainability and social justice.

Takeover the IPPs, not renegotiate

CAP is concerned that the government is already renegotiating with independent power producers (IPPs) whose contracts will be expiring soon.

Why are contract negotiations being carried out with IPPs  which have been a drain on the resources of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and a burden to the consumers? Why not let TNB take over the IPPs?
