7 SPICES THAT CAN BE CHEWED FOR GOOD HEALTH

Spices are known for their medicinal properties. They are packed with plant compounds that have powerful protective effects on the body, and have been used for centuries in traditional medicine systems.

Their most common use, however, is in food. There are more than 100 common spices used in cooking around the world, and some have proven to be concentrated sources of antioxidants – substances that protect your cells from damage.

But spices need not be limited to culinary uses to derive their health benefits. Some spices can be simply chewed to relieve various common maladies – eg: cloves for toothache and nausea, fennel seeds to freshen breath, and black peppercorns to clear nasal congestion (grind or crack them first to make them easier to consume).
