Sleep is essential for health and well-being. A full night’s sleep can help you: get sick less often, stay at a healthy weight, and lower your risk for serious health problems like diabetes and heart disease. It also improves your mood, and helps you make good decisions and avoid injuries (eg: drowsy drivers can be involved in accidents).
Sleep is also a powerful stress-reliever and lack of it reduces mental clarity and our ability to cope with stressful situations.
Yet many of us suffer from lack of sleep. Data shows that 9 in 10 Malaysians experience some level of insomnia and have one or more sleep problems. Around 35% also have a sleep disorder with more than 53% of Malaysia’s workforce getting less than the minimal 7 hours sleep in a 24-hour period.
If you are sleep deprived and have problems falling asleep, here’s what you can do to get a good night’s rest.
