Sitting 1 hour less daily and increasing light physical activity can help prevent Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases in just 3 months. This is what a new study in the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sports has found.
Science has time and again shown that exercise can treat and prevent many disabling diseases, even fatal ones. Some examples: heart disease, cancer, stroke, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and osteoporosis.
A Consumer Reports survey of more than 46,000 people found exercise to be almost as effective, and sometimes even more effective, than prescription medications for common medical problems.
Exercise has also been proved to contribute toward resilience against COVID-19’s most serious impacts, including death. A recent study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine has found that any form of regular physical activity, even less than 2½ hours per week, can protect against severe COVID-19 outcomes.
Regular exercise benefits the immune system by reducing inflammation, mobilizing white blood cells to fight off infection, and enhancing the body’s ability to recognise harmful pathogens that cause diseases.
It enhances health, well-being and self-image; elevates mood; reduces stress; improves appearance; increases energy; and stimulates creative thinking.
Exercise is a “wonder pill” you should be taking daily!
