Help BAN Lead in Paints – Consumers Association Penang

The Department of Standards Malaysia is currently soliciting public comments on the draft Malaysian Standard (MS) for Architectural Coatings.

Architectural coatings, often called exterior wall coatings, are paints and other coatings used to paint the exteriors and interiors of buildings. It is intended for on-site use on the interior and exterior surfaces of residential, commercial, institutional, or industrial buildings.

Among the specifications in the draft MS is that the ingredients used in the paint formulation shall not contain lead.

We need legally binding controls on lead in all paints as lead is toxic and there is no safe level of lead exposure. #BanLeadPaint
