Who Will Be the Winners?

The Transformative Cities Award, is a unique platform and award process which celebrates inspiring stories of change. The Award is given to help popularise and disseminate the lessons and inspiration from such practices. It provides an opportunity for social movements and civil society organisations as well as progressive local governments and municipalist coalitions to share their experiences of building solutions to our planet’s systemic economic, social, political and ecological crises.

3 transformative initiatives in 4 different categories (water, energy, housing and food systems) were selected as the 12 finalists for the Transformative Cities 2022 Award. CAP is one of the finalists – in the Food Category: “Building the movement for agroecological urban gardening to ensure food sovereignty”.

Between mid-October and mid-November, more than 16,000 people participated in a global public contest and cast their vote for the initiatives they found most inspiring.

On 9 December 2022, the Transformative Cities Initiative will announce which initiative received the most popular support for each of the 4 categories and are thus the recipients of the Transformative Cities 2021-2022 People’s Choice Award.

One representative per winner initiative will join the finale to discuss the opportunities and challenges for transforming our local contexts and addressing the global challenges we are facing.

This exceptional event will be livestreamed worldwide, giving everyone the opportunity to engage and be part of this celebration of transformative practices. It will be in English with Spanish live translations.
