CHEMICALS FROM GROCERY STICKERS MAY BE LEACHING INTO FOODS

Thermal labels are used on a variety of food products packaged in grocery stores. A new study has found that Bisphenol S (BPS) and other harmful compounds can migrate from thermal labels through packaging film and into the food.

BPS and Bisphenol A (BPA), which is increasingly being phased out and replaced by BPS, can disrupt hormones and have negative effects on growth, brain function, the reproductive system and the immune system.

Research suggests BPS has similar effects to BPA on the heart, and literature reviews of available research have concluded BPS is equally or “more toxic”.
