HOW TO RAISE STRONG KIDS

All parents want to protect their children from pain and difficulty. But for children to grow, they need to learn to take little risks. This boosts their confidence and makes them more independent.

“Do not handicap your children by making their lives easy,” writes novelist Robert Heinlein. Children are not things to be molded, but people to be unfolded.

Protecting children from harm is crucial. But equally important is allowing them to face challenges. Let them feel hurt, let them feel pain – this fosters resilience, problem-solving skills, and independence; and prepares them for real-world situations.

The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence, goes a saying. To raise strong kids, support your child, but don’t rescue them from a challenge.
