NO SUCH THING AS “AWAY”

Our trash doesn’t simply vanish when we throw it out. “There is no such thing as ‘away’,” Annie Leonard, former executive director of Greenpeace USA, says in her book, The Story of Stuff.

“When we throw anything away, it must go somewhere.” It ends up in a landfill, incinerator, or the environment.
