PARENTS CAN HELP PREVENT CHILDREN’S EARLY DRINKING

Almost 1 in 4 young people aged 15-19 drink alcohol. Those who have access to alcohol at home are more likely to drink earlier in life.

Early drinking is linked to:

Poor mental health

Lower academic achievement

Lifelong risks

Rising alcohol consumption among young people leads to higher risks of heart diseases, liver inflammation, and certain types of cancer.

Parents, you are your kid’s hero. Studies show that when kids see parents drinking, it normalises alcohol consumption. You can help prevent early drinking by having open conversations with your children and modelling healthy habits at home.
