PLANT TREES FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

“In recent decades, studies showed that the harmful effects of bad air quality can impair future generations. Early exposure to bad air quality (in uterus, infant, and early childhood) can increase the susceptibility to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) across the lifespan.” – abstract from research paper in Current Opinion in Toxicology, Vol. 35, September 2023

NCDs are chronic diseases (eg: heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes), which also include chronic respiratory diseases, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. NCDs are the number one cause of death and disability in the world.

Growing trees can protect future generations from air pollution by improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gases. Trees absorb pollutants, filter particles, and release oxygen – all of these protect against diseases such as asthma, allergies, and other respiratory disorders.

Trees quietly produce the very air we breathe. A single tree can provide a day’s supply of oxygen for up to 4 people. Trees are the future of humanity. Planting trees today is one of the simplest yet most impactful actions we can take to ensure a healthier, greener planet for future generations.
