SMALL STEPS, BIG RESULTS

The Ice Cube Lesson

Most people misunderstand how change actually works.

When progress is invisible, the instinct is to assume that nothing is happening. Effort feels wasted. Motivation fades. Many people quit in this phase.

But systems rarely change in a straight line.

In physics, an ice cube at -5°C looks exactly the same at -1°C. From the outside, nothing appears different. Yet inside, energy is building. Molecules are moving faster. The structure is slowly approaching a critical point.

Then one small degree changes everything. The ice begins to melt.

Human progress often follows the same pattern. Long periods of effort can appear meaningless until a threshold is crossed and the results suddenly become visible.

What looks like an overnight breakthrough is usually the final moment of a process that was quietly building for a long time.

The real lesson is simple: Consistency is rarely dramatic. But it is almost always accumulative.

And the last degree only exists because of all the degrees that came before it.
