Spending too much time on our phones can make us lonely and isolated. It makes us lose touch with our surroundings. It makes us less friendly and more likely to ignore the people around us.
As more people focus on their phones, interactions with others go down. This starts a cycle of less talking and less feeling like we’re all part of a community. If people are absorbed in their handphones all the time, there will be less human interaction, less real conversation, and less community connection. This creates a “Zombie effect” in people.
Handphone users can end up being prisoners of their phones. Many of us are so engrossed on our handphone, we don’t realise that we are trapped in a self-created prison. Maybe that’s why the device is called a cell phone!
