VIEWS OF THOSE WHO BENEFITED from CAP’s Urban Garden Training
(Part 2)
PUAN LIM LAY CHU

First and foremost, a big thank you to CAP. Ever since I came into contact with CAP, I learnt a lot of new things regarding natural farming, like how to make compost, growth promoters, vermicompost, pest repellentand Farmers’ EM (Farmers’ Effective Microorganisms).
As a teacher, CAP helped me impart knowledge to my pupils about making compost, self-watering system, protecting ecosystem and recycling projects. From here, our school won the state-level environmental competition.
Now, as a retiree, I am doing organic farming and applying whatever I have learnt. Whenever I am free, I attend workshops or talks given by CAP, like seed-sharing projects and cooking programmes (from garden to kitchen). I bought some booklets from CAP as my guide.

HAJAH JULAIHA BEGUM
Gelugor, Penang
CAP’s urban garden training has helped me improve my gardening techniques. Making a proper pot mixture by mixing different types of soil really attracted me, as I grow many of my plants in pots.
I don’t spend my money buying chemical fertilisers since I have learned to convert my kitchen waste into compost, which becomes fertiliser for my plants.

Ever since I was connected with CAP, I started making use of used plastic containers to grow plants. I have a habit of sharing extra seedlings with friends and neighbours. Therefore, I started using small, used plastic containers as a seedling medium, which made it easier for me to distribute the seedlings.
I appreciate CAP’s work in educating the public to do gardening, giving classes, and encouraging the public to grow their own vegetables, and creating awareness of being healthy in many ways.
Thank you CAP.

KARTINA BINTI MOHAMED
Bayan Lepas, Penang
I was attracted to starting a home garden ever since I learnt about CAP’s garden activity through one of my workplace projects called BUGS in Butterworth.
CAP has been very helpful, approachable, and always there to guide me when it comes to gardening. I would like to share with others that I collect water from my house’s air conditioner to water the plants and trees in my house.
