Earth Day Exhibition 2025 – A Celebration of Action, A Commitment to the Planet
This year 22nd April marked Earth Day with more than just words at Komtar, Penang through an impactful collaboration with the Penang Green Council (PGC). The programme turned words into action, ideas into initiatives, and passion into progress. The Earth Day Exhibition brought together students, teachers, community members, civil society organisations and passionate changemakers to honour our shared responsibility to care for the environment.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors explored eye-opening displays and hands-on activities focused on themes like climate action, energy conservation, sustainable living, biodiversity, cooling naturally and waste reduction. Every booth and poster was a testament to the creativity and commitment of students who had poured their hearts into researching and presenting practical solutions to today’s environmental challenges.
Student-led projects that impressed with practical, doable solutions from upcycled art to composting demos, solar-powered prototypes to eco-friendly transport campaigns. Hands-on workshops included composting and the importance of protecting our local ecosystems. Students showcased innovations using natural daylight and renewable energy sources to lower carbon footprints, all grounded in research.
The Consumers’ Association of Penang’s booth displayed a standout feature of cooling plants which help purify the air and reduce indoor temperatures naturally. These green companions not only beautify spaces but also act as passive cooling solutions, reducing the need for fans and air-conditioning, and encouraging energy-saving lifestyles. We also provided some natural cooling recipes and do-it-yourself energy-saving cards for students and adults to create awareness of energy saving.
Other booths displayed upcycled art installations that transformed waste into beauty, reminding us that what we throw away matters and that we all have a role in creating less waste and more wonder. The Earth Day campaign encouraged communities and helped us visualize a city with fewer emissions and fresher air.
The Earth Day Exhibition 2025 was more than an event, it was a movement in motion. It reminded us that every step toward sustainability counts, no matter how small. Through the creativity of the students, the dedication of the educators, and the unwavering support of the CAP, everyone witnessed how education and action go hand in hand to build a better world.
