Don’t throw away those orange peels. Repurpose them into a household bug spray. The essential oils in orange peels repel mosquitoes and flies. Just cut the peels up and put them in a jar covered with white vinegar for a few days, then strain and use.
Orange peels can also be used to make a garden spray to deter and get rid of pests like slugs, aphids, ants, whiteflies and fruit flies. Just boil a few orange peels in a cup of water for 10 minutes, and strain into a spray bottle once cool. Spray this liquid every 3-4 days on plants.
You can also spread chopped pieces of the fresh peels near the base of plants to help keep pests and rodents away. Replace the peels once they have dried out.
