SUGAR SHORTAGE ARTIFICIAL, DUE TO HOARDING

Consumers Association of Penang received numerous complaints from traders and consumers who have difficulty getting white sugar.

At the same time, the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDNKSH) Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, in his statement guaranteed the country’s sufficient supply of sugar despite the increase in world sugar and natural gas prices.

As the sugar crisis gets worse, KPDNKSH should immediately launch a countrywide operation against sugar hoarders and profiteers as CAP believe they were fueling the crisis by stowing down supply of the commodity to the market.

CAP suggests that the Enforcement Division of KPDNKSH conduct raids throughout the country to force the hoarders to bring their sugar stocks to the market.
